Private,
In-Home Training
Private sessions in your home provide several
benefits to both dog and owner!
Fewer distractions: It
is always better to begin training in less
distracting environments. This simply makes
it easier for a dog to learn new skills, especially
at the beginning of his/her training career.
As dogs get more experience, we then practice
in more distracting environments.
One-on-one attention: You
and your dog are the only students. The trainer
is able to focus on you and your dog the entire
time.
Customized programs: The
training program is customized to specifically
fit your training goals.
Learning in the environment where
the dog lives: DogPACT trainers
are able to look at your unique home environment
and customize training to fit your needs.
We are also able to address problem behaviors
where they occur.
Convenience: We come to
you so that you can maximize your time and
enjoy training in the comfort of your own home.
All private, in-home training starts with a
two-hour session. During this time, we evaluate
your dog and his/her specific needs, outline
a training program to meet your training priorities,
and start working on the top two or three priorities.
Successive sessions are typically an hour long.
Each session is a combination of describing exercises
and how they can be applied to daily living,
demonstrations of the exercises, coaching you
while you practice, and handouts to support your
efforts. Call 562-423-0793 or Contact
Us, describing your needs. We will provide
fees based on your goals and the length of the
program we recommend.
Training
Equipment and Techniques
DogPACT uses positive reinforcement as the foundation
of its training methodology. As such, we do not
use choke chains or pinch/prong collars. If a
student has become accustomed to using those
training tools in the past, they are welcome
to join DogPACT classes and learn how they might
transition from those tools to others recommended
by the instructors.
Students will learn how to use clicker
training, as well as other reward-based
training techniques, for fast and fun ways
to train new behaviors, as well as eliminate
inappropriate ones.
